Our Team
ForJay B. Abrams, founder and CEO of AVGI, valuation is more than a job; it is a calling. He has invented 150+ original mathematical formulas, many of which he developed as custom solutions during complex valuation assignments. Jay is a noted thought leader in the valuation industry and a published author of four groundbreaking valuation texts, some of which are used internationally as textbooks in graduate-level courses. Jay is also a sought-after continuing education lecturer for CPA continuing education
The AVGI all-star team members are highly qualified mathematical and business experts with over 30 years in the valuation field and 2000+ valuations completed spanning a vast range of industries
Our integrated team approach means that each valuation goes through rigorous peer review and creates accurate and defensible valuation analytics, even for the most complex and exotic asset categories. The precision in our valuation process has helped many of our clients save millions of dollars in gift and estate taxes and achieve just and appropriate outcomes in litigation. Our deep market analysis has gone even further and uncovered significant industry threats to our client’s businesses long before they felt the economic impact. These insights enabled our clients to pivot their business strategies to combat future threats.
Our Customized Valuation Strategy
At AVGI, we fuse our deep understanding of valuation theory with advanced mathematical models customized to the client’s business. Our appraisals are rooted in solid quantitative methodology, and we draw on years of experience to identify when a custom valuation model would produce a more accurate valuation than standard modeling. The AVGI team is comprised of deep thinkers who dig deep to pursue the truth and reflect that in our valuations
- Why Most Standard Valuations Fail
Most standard valuations fail to deliver just results for the client. Over our years in the valuation field, we have seen valuations ranging the spectrum from overly simplistic to overly complicated without any meaningful substance. We have also seen many appraisals using sub-standard methodology, misusing standard valuation methods (a favorite target of the IRS for audits), mediocre work, and valuations producing subpar client results. This toxic mix of poor valuation work leaves clients open to attack by audit and litigation, draining their physical, emotional, and financial resources
- The AVGI Valuation Difference
In stark contrast, the AVGI team has the experience and expertise to artfully balance complex mathematics with logical simplicity, achieving the best possible outcome for the client. We uniquely apply valuation theory to custom situations and back up our projections with solid quantitative work that leaves little room for argument.
AVGI’s methods, precision, and documentation have made our appraisals solid and able to withstand intense scrutiny from the IRS and opposing appraisers in litigation. For example, a large portion of our tax-related valuation work consists of discount appraisals. The IRS has received Jay Abrams’ two original methods for determining the discounts for Lack of Marketability and Lack of Control well for over 30 years. Using these original methodologies, we have a very low incidence of audits, and the audit results have been overwhelmingly favorable. A former IRS estate tax attorney now in private practice stated the IRS respects Abrams Valuation Group, Inc.’s work
At AVGI, we take pride in providing our clients with exceptional value for their investment. If you need high-quality appraisal work, AVGI is a good fit for you
